hey, i just got this software and i'm having trouble with recording...i've been adjusting latency and buffer settings all day and nothing...running it on vista...i even look up how to strip vista down for audio recording and stripped it down...i'm running a laptop tho...that might be the issue but as far as i know it shouldnt be...running a mackie onyx 1220 mixer with firewire into expresscard firewire port....2 gig memory, 250gb hd @5400rpm speed...and intel 2duo t8100 processor...my hd is is the weak part but it shouldnt be the issue...let me know what you guys think...need some help...

Sonar drops out in general when the hardware configuration is not good enough or if the virtual memory or processor it can use drops low. In your case I can see that there is nothing wrong with the hardware as they are all way above the requirements. Hard drive should be a big deal. The only possible thing I can think of is a driver problem or your anti-virus or some software clogging the memory. Turn of your anti-virus and reinstall your drivers with latest versions to see how it works.

I have the same problems my self, they stared with my new computer. I suspect the hard drive (as it keeps making funny noises) so I've ordered a new one.

I'll let you know how it turns out. :)

You also may want to try stripping out all your background programs you are running. My dropout problems got a lot better once I disconnected my internet line from my recording computer.

In XP if you run msconfig and turn off everything, only windows essential processes will run on your startup, this will reduce processing issues considerably.
