Sonar FX - is this feedback??

Hey all,

When I dial up an effect on any given track of audio in Sonar, it gives me intermittent tone "bleeps" or "bloops" it sounds like little blasts of feedback - there is no apparent rhythmic pattern. At first I thought it only happened when I tried direct monitoring, which I can live without, but alas, I hear it on audio tracks regardless if it's live or recorded.

I'm using the Aardvark 24/96 with the new drivers - which I like, but now am wondering if the latency is too low (admittedly, I haven't increased it to see if the noises go away)

Has anyone else heard these little jokers?

Thanks!

Yeah, on demo/shareware versions of plug-ins; that's their copy protection scheme, they beep at you every few seconds so you can't use them for real applications. The plugins from my Sound Forge work fine in SF, but when I use them in Sonar, they show up as the demo version and bleep at me, I guess the "license" only allows me to plug them in to SF. If they are demos, it should indicate that on the title bar of the plugin window. If you are using the plugins that came with Sonar, it must be something else...

Major,

You know, I think I HAVE seen the word 'demo' on the fx box. How sneaky....and I'll bet that's what's causing it. I am running the sonar demo version, but I do have the real PA9 - which I thought had the legit effect plug-ins...however, I do also have the SF stuff too. I'll just have to examine better. I also thought it might be a bit-depth issue - getting the card driver settings to better match Sonars.

Thanks for the new angle.

Have a good day!
