I know that on ebay there are auctions for Sonar that look like scams -- CD-Rs, no manuals, etc.

However, I came across this site http://cdcomp.8m.com/howtobuy.html

It could be a scam as well but this is what is says on the site:

"How long has you company been in business?
CDcopmserv has been active in CD market almost three years now. That's why we have good experience in this business. We offer the best CD's, at the best prices. We are working 24/7. You can make your payment by secure credit card, check or direct transfer at our internet shop at any time.

Why are your prices so low?
As you see, we offer to you CDs at a fantastic price. Our company gets this software from bankrupt companies and shops. Our company gets a small portion of the profit from each CD and we have very small per cent of profit for each CD. That's why we can offer you CDs at a great price.

Does it mean that you are selling Discard?
No, it's not discard. If for some reason, you got a bad copy of our software, we will exchange it for you, no problem. "

Anyone familiar with this?

i'm not familiar, but very interested. have you found out anything more about this in the last two days?

Yeah it's a scam. They e-mailed me trying to sell me a burned copy of Sonar XL no manual, registration, dongle, or receipt just a CD-rom copy. Anybody and everybody can get a cracked or copy cd-roms of any software, I know people who get copy software all day long for free. So I politly e-mailed them back telling the same thing. So don't bother it's a rip off. Yeah it's a scam.

i figured it was sketch given the price, the dodgy web site, and the fact the only point of contact is an email address. I am using the Sonar demo now and having a ball. Will no doubt buy it when the demo is over.
