What method is everyone using to, say, fix the slightly off time kick drum, or to add a kick or snare, or remove one completly from your track? Sonar seems to react differently than some other programs. I'm having a little trouble making this feel comfortable. I think I have to highlight, copy and paste it on top as another clip, but for some reason it feels odd to me, like I'm doing it wrong.
What about moving a kick or whatever over just a hair without affecting the rest of the track?
Removing one completely?
We're assuming a live kit here, with each drum miked up to its own track.
Thanks for the input! :)

To move something, what I typicaly do is to cut a piece of silence out of the track slightly before the item you want to move to make room for the move (or after it if you want to move it back in time). Then make another cut on the other side of the item. So now you should have a clip of just that item, with a little room next to it for the move.

Highlight the item and then go to Edit -> Slide. The menu will give you a choice of sliding by Measures, Ticks, Seconds or Frames. I usually use Ticks, since most of my moves are fairly small. Setting a positive number in the "By" box will move it to the right, while setting a negative number will move it to the left.

After you play around with it a couple of times, it's pretty easy to get the hang of it.

To get rid of something completely, I make a cut before and after the item, highlight it and hit the delete key. (This is destructive, so be sure you don't want it before you do it. You can use the undo feature, but only while the project is running and before you do any saves.)
