Hi folks,

I´ve just made myself a little familiar with drum maps in Sonar. I can tell you that I really like this feature, but I don´t understand why it is called drum maps, as it seems to work for any channel or instrument - is there any reason to use it for drums only? Why is that name?

Yes, in theory, you could put a bass sound on C2, a piano sound on D2, etc... It would still be a drum kit !

That's the definition of a drum kit : each note is associated with a sound, wether or not you are playing percussion sounds.

Try for exemple to create a drum kit with voice samples. Use the word 'Bass' for BD, 'Snare' for SD, 'Tom' for toms, etc... That is quite funny.

Sonar drum map goes a little further : for each note, you can choose the channel and the output. With that you can for exemple play the snare drum from a dxi instrument while using the bass drum sound from a midi expander...
