Sonar Crash!

Hey guys.

I am having a recurring problem with Sonar locking up at least 3 or 4 times a session (a session = maybe 2 hours). My CPU meter reads "CPU Warning", every thing sticks and my sound card sends out a high pitched squeal. Needless to say, I need to reboot.

I find it usually happens when I play around with audio clips (try some out, move them around, delete, etc.) but I can't say for sure that this is the cause.

My set up is as follow:

Sonar XL/Win ME/AMD1.2/ASUS A7V133-C M'Board (Via KT133 Chipset)/512MB SDRAM/2 x Western Digital 7200rpm HDs (1 for audio data)Echo Mia S'Card/ASUS AGP-V7100 Graphics Card/MOTU Fastlane USB MIDI interface/Also running Cool Edit Pro SE. My computer is purely for music.

My Sonal XL mixing latency buffer size is set to 10.0 msec. I am not as yet using WDM drivers. Also, my graphics card and sound card share the same IRQ.

Can anyone help?

I had a lot of problems with my Sonar/Win2K config until I isolated all of the IRQs - in oher words, my system config is different than yours but it is usually not a good thing to share IRQs if you don't have to.

Hey eichler.

Did you isolate the IRQs by physically moving your cards to different slots (and hope than Win gives them different IRQs), or did you do it within BIOS, or some other process?

I am going to move my Mia card into another slot and hope that Win ME allocates a different unshared IRQ for it (and hopefully rid my system of the crashing problems).
