In SONAR XL...during the normal copying & pasting of audio clips, I've noticed that the left border of the pasted clip doesn't always align with the needle.

1) I'll zoom in & align the needle directly on top of the left border of the source clip...
2) copy the clip...
3) move to where I want the clip to be placed...
4) align the needle (in graduations, left to right) until the Tick number rolls over to the desired number...
5) & paste.

The clip always winds up being positioned slightly to the right of the needle, by varying degrees.

Is this because (in Project Options), I have my PPQ's set to 120; & the app automatically aligns the clip with a precise location within the Tick number (up to 960) based on the original location?

Or is the app just sloppy in it's Paste execution?

Thanks,

AFAIK Sonar is quite exact in its paste funcition.

First off, you shouldn't need to do step #1. Simply clicking on the clip should highlight the entire clip, why would you need to zoom to find the left edge unless you are trying to split the clip (and if so, why not use the snap to grid function)? Secondly, if you left click on the clip and select Clip Properties, it will tell you exactly where the clip starts.

Next, instead of testing your hand-eye coordination in step #4, why not just specify where you want the clip pasted in the pop-up dialog box? When you go to do the paste, you should get a pop-up window. The first item in the window allows you to specify where you want the pasted clip to start.

Edit: BTW, makes sure the align to measure box is not checked in the paste window (unless, of course, you want to align it to a measure :) )
