hi - I've been trying to predict what sonar's arpeggiator MIDI effect is going to do - I'm trying to get octave bass lines going (kinda like PetShopBoys or New Order ) and those cool stuttering, stacatto-sounding chords but it seems that the pre-sets and messing with the settings just results in VERY bizarre ranges of notes with little in the way of predicting / controlling what's going on.
I tried quantizing / arpeggiating just a bar of simple low quarter notes - C C C C - and playing with it and it came out with a tempo like someone pushing a washing machine down a flight of uneven stairs - sigh.
I know I'm just not grasping the concept, or that there's a calculation I don't know about - I bought Sonar Power and have the manual, but there's little in there to help!
(I'm using an Ensoniq SP1 through a JV1010) - the Ensoniq is just a borrowed controller, no manual or anything.
ANY direction, pointers, commiseration, would be GREATLY appreciated!
