One Hit Wonder
Anyone else using Sonar and Native Instruments Kompakt?
I am having an issue with Komptakt that is puzzling me. I'm not sure I have the sequence down, but this is what seems to happen.
I set up a midi piano track in Sonar, program it in Piano Roll View and route it to Kompakt as a DXi for playback. Later on I decide I want to try using a different DXi to audition a different piano sound, e.g., Edirol. So I insert an instance of the Edirol DXi, and change the output of the exisiting midi track to point to the Edirol. In the meantime, I leave the Kompakt DXi as is. IOW, the Kompakt track is still there but nothing is pointing to it.
After auditioning the Edirol, I decide I want to hear the Kompakt piano again. So I change the routing of the midi track back to Kompakt. (I'm not sure of this next point, but I may or may not have also changed the specific piano sample selected in Kompakt as well.)
Anyway, when I start playback I get a god-awful screech from my speakers. It pretty much stops when I stop playback, but starts again as soon as I start playback again. However, when I exit and re-enter Sonar (not having made any other changes) it will now playback fine.
I haven't tried installing/uninstalling Kompakt (I'm always a bit leery of this because of their copy protection scheme). But has anyone else experienced this, or have a guess as to what might be going on. The sound is so loud I am afraid it is going to blow my speakers some day. (And thank god I don't run a pro studio, as this would certainly scare away any paying customers.)
