Hi. When i export my songs they sound week and nothing like what was in Sonar when i played them. So I think I finally figured it out. I think its because I recorded everything mono. So when I export it gets all screwed up.

I dont want to have to re record everything, is there away to make a mono track stereo within Sonar 5 Producer?? I looked around and couldn't find anything, hopefully I just over looked it.

From now I record stereo damnit! haha

Thanks,
Dustin

converting a mono track to a sterio track is called panning.

everybody records everything in mono... generally... a mic is mono... if you record with two mics then you record them mono and pan them.

Well that's not exactly right, but you're in the ballpark.

As zek stated, most things are recorded in mono (not all, but most). When you export the mix, assuming you have made the right selections from the export menus, it will export a stereo mix. However, if everything in the mix is panned center, the exported mix will "sound" mono. This because you have exactly the same things in the left channel as the right.

Nonetheless, if you have everything panned center, the mix will also sound mono when you play it back in Sonar (before the export). So, I doubt that stereo is your problem here (unless you manged to export a mono mix by selecting it from the export choices).

An exported mix should sound exactly the same as it sounds in Sonar.

So first check the choices you have selected in the export dialogue menu. If everything is selected correctly, your problem lies elsewhere.

What exactly is the problem with the exported mix? Can you describe why it sounds different? Are you selecting ALL the tracks to be exported? Are all the tracks routed to the same Master Bus?
