Wasn't it due out the Second week in October? I have to order me a copy... I've been waiting for a company in Australia to get the price so I can compare it to an overseas price..

I just got their newsletter which stated that it was shipping early.

I'm looking forward to that and the submix capability. I already have the Ultrafunk suite, which is killer by the way. There are a lot of other advancements too. I am finally stepping up to the XL version which in the past was not that great. However I did miss the DR008 and Timeworks plug in. They are not going to be in this next version. I should have upgraded to 2.0XL before they canned that version.

And there's no bloody manual...

Contrary to an earlier post I saw (from someone purporting to be Cakewalk staff) according to the review in Computer Music today there's no manual, just a flimsy 'get started'. That really makes me mad. CM do comment however, that the packaging is opulent.... So the marketing guys at Cakewalk have triumphed over the 'ops' guys (who know we need a proper manual) - give 'em a pretty box instead.

I think the logic goes like this. The existing user base will upgrade nomatter what, so we'll buy anyway (true). New users, however and potential cross-graders, will need to be enticed by an attractive box on a music shop shelf. The logic's flawed because most people (I believe) buy things like this online, and not by falling in love with a bloody box.

I'm disappointed to say the least. What does everyone else think? Are you happy trawling through online help pages?

(I've just been to Scott Garrigus' site, begging him to write "Sonar Power 3" if he's not already doing so..)

Well, I deleted that CW email but I thought it said the Producer version comes with the manual and CD. As well, some other software.

Anyone still have the email they can post here?

Sigh... I guess there's still a few months waiting here in Norway. :(

AW - Cakewalk,

Quick question... when should I expect to see the Sonar Upgrade in Australia? Intelliware still say it's the second week of October... will it be sooner?

Porter

Humble pie time..

AW - thanks for that . I don't know why "Computer Music" mag. didn't check with Cakewalk. I assume they'll print an erratum. I was enjoying the mag until now but this was shoddy journalism.

I have of course already ordered my upgrade, the product (and manuals..) speak for themselves.

Oh, and humble apologies to marketing guys everywhere... ;o) but especially to the post below this one!

I'd like to clear this up. There was a miscomunication between Cakewalk and Computer Music. They were reviewing a beta and the manual was not available at the time. Let me assure you that manual that ships with SONAR 3 is the largest manual we have ever produced. It actually had to be considered in the box design. The manual is close to 700 pages.

And, I do in fact work for Cakewalk. And so does AW.

Second week of October is correct.

My biggest client*(he's a jerk) can't wait and wants to know???

AW - cakewalk

What's the turnover time on an order? When I got the email I ordered my producer edition upgrade (Guess that makes me a Producer now:D). At the time it said that it took up to a couple of weeks to process. Is this true or do you think it will ship within the week?

Thanks, RD

*I am my biggest client.

Shipping Monday usually means shipping Monday to Cakewalk.
They've treated me well.
Now that I've broken down and ordered Sonar 3 I know they'll come through again.

Every order is unique, of course, but we did begin shipping on Monday. :)
