The first patch for Sonar 3.0 has been posted.

DO NOT USE THIS!! I lost all of my plug in automation and settings on several mixes. As, well the reverb plug ins stopped working correctly. I am reporting this to cakewalk.

I have applied this patch and have not experienced the problems Middleman reports.

I closed all other applications that were running, (including Sonar), and applied the patch.

It behaved correctly and all of my mix automation has not been touched.

The Sonitus FX:Reverb does seem to no longer react to preset changes while the song is playing if you select the normal "windows" drop down box at the top of the screen. If you select the PRESETS button from the actual Sonitus GUI, then the presets change correctly.

FWIW - YMMV

Yeah here is an update.

I had the original Ultrafunk plugs R3. They were working fine along side the ones that came with S3. There were two tabs one for Sonitus and one for Ultrafunk on my plug in list. Life was good. I was doing this to make sure there were not any problems going back and forth between S2.2 and S3.

After I applied the patch to S3 things went haywire. My original R3 plugs no longer showed up under Ultrafunk but were in the list with the Sonitus versions. I think the update overwrote the plugin .ini files because it did not recognize the old formats. Thus, I lost all of my plug settings for these plug ins.

I have to now go back through several mixes to reset EQ, reverb and compression. Quite a pain.

FYI for previous users of Ultrafunk, you may want to de-install the old files, or put them in another location prior to installing S3. Cakewalk should have indicated how to treat older versions of these plug-ins. I saw nothing in the materials that even discusses this.

That sounds like the go - I did not have a previous install of the "Ultrafunk" version, just what came with Sonar 3.0.

Middleman - may your ears be Katz'ed and your fingers fly as you reconstruct your work.

Damn, that was quick. Yay cake.

I still think it's stupid that this wasn't alredy in the version 4.3 of the adapter...

Yeah, I hear you. I'm just glad to have it. I've been itching to use SIR.

Well, they must have uncovered a couple more problems with the patch because I just went to download it and the page is no longer available.

Wow! Yeah! I just saw that pages, 30 minutes ago.

Just so you guys don't think I'm nuts. Here is the official response from Cakewalk. Seems there is a problem for users of Ultrafunk prior to Sonar 3.

-------------------------------------
We are aware of this problem in the patch and therefore it is being removed so that the problem can be fixed. In the meantine follow these steps to reinstall SONAR 3.0:

a) Completely un-install SONAR from your computer. This is normally done from Start | Programs | Cakewalk. This will not remove any of your files or audio data.

b) To make sure nothing else is running while reinstalling SONAR in step 'e', choose Start | Run and type MSCONFIG. Click OK, choose Selective Startup, then uncheck the Load Startup Group Items box. Click OK, and restart Windows. You can always recheck that box at a later time. In Win 2000, click Ctrl+Alt+Del and manually End Task on the items you don't need running. Restart your computer.

c) Click the Windows Start button and select Run. At the prompt type REGEDIT and click OK.
Backup your Registry before making edits - you do this by clicking the Registry menu, Export Registry File.
Now delete the following Registry keys
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software

Please note that this will remove any effects presets and key bindings you may have made in Cakewalk. You can back up those registry keys separately if you like.

d) Delete the files AUD.INI and TTSSEQ.INI from the SONAR program folder.

e) Restart your computer, then reinstall SONAR.

Really?!? A problem?!?

The penalty for releasing patches with bugs this bad should be a head-shot. Straight execution!

What's going on at Cakewalk?!?

This isn't really that hard to see how it happened -- Ultrafunk is still relatively "new" technology for the Cakies -- not of their own breeding so they are still learning all of the "gotchas" of a purchased codebase that wasn't developed in house.

The actual patch they released did work fine, provided you didn't have a previous install - so as far as the Q&A goes - it certainly did have some polishing before being shipped out the door.

I'm just glad that I now have automation ability in the Pantheon reverb........

I still think they could have made a better sollution than to delete whole registry keys. Say I want my DX presets... I'm screwed! :(

But luckily for me, I'm sure they've fixed it when I finally get Sonar 3... :D
