which one is better? more capabilities?

which is more stable?

thanks,

Just ask yourself...this is a decision you will have to live with for sometime; which has the cooler sounding name? S3 would be my choice. :p

They are both stable and similar in features. If you do midi tracks or want to use softsynths the integration with audio tracks is excellent in Sonar.

You should get to the music store and play with both, see which seems more intutitive and user freindly.

I'd say Sonar3 Producers Edition. However SX is now moving to version 2, and there may be new features that make it the better package. They are both good programs though. It will come down to your workflow habits I think.

I've never used Sonar, so I can't compare the 2, but I can say that Cubase SX has always been pretty stable. It also seemed to have everything I needed to get everything done.

One thing I always wished SX had, though, was the ability to further process effects sends- route them to other effects and whatnot. I understand V.2 incorporates that ability, but haven't seen fit to upgrade yet.

I'd go with SX 2, for certain though, if you decide on SX. Full sorround capabilities (I've had A LOT of fun playing with surround in SX1!) and a whole slew of cool features.

For whatever its worth.

Cubase SX2 has inputs!! that you can insert effects across such as a compressor and record the effect.

The new effect returns can be automated as well.

cheers

I don't like copy protections, especially dongles like SX has - to much trouble. And as it seems a real close race in all else I'd go with Sonar...

Cubase actually seems to have an insane amount of stuff to do with MIDI...but I never used it, and Sonar's actually felt easier to work with for me. I eventually moved from Cubase to Sonar 2 then 3, and I'm primarily a MIDI, softsynth sort of person.
