Hi,

I am using sonar 3 for live performance. I use a portable computer to read files which contains MIDI and waves. My computer is a P4/2.4 and 512 megs of ram. On some songs I only have one midi track and one wave with no effects, and the song lags... I had to bring latency up to 250ms to get it to play right. The only thing: the sound card is the onboard sound card of the portable computer.
Could it be that?

I would say that would be the main reason...

With good sound cards you should usually be able to get latency down pretty low. But correct me if I'm wrong, if you are using a Laptop for live performances why do you need low latency?

I don't know how you have it set up, however if you run the out's of the laptop into a mixer and plug your guitar (assuming) and mic (assuming) into the mixer, just listen to the song on the wedge and use that as a guide as opposed to running everything through the laptop.

Just a thought,

Porter
