Sonar 2 -- Piano Roll - clicking changes Now Time

In the PIANO ROLL, left or right clicking within the piano roll causes the
Now Time to change to wherever I clicked.

It's very annoying, since I do most of my piano roll editing while the song
is playing. With Sonar 2, I can no longer edit note properties (via right-click)
without having the playback jump to that note.

This abrupt changing of the Now Time did not happen in Sonar 1.3.1.

What I'd like to know is:

1) Is there something I can do to disable the "Now Time" jump every time I
right click on a note in the Piano Roll?

2) If I can't do anything about it, do you think this will be fixed in the
next patch? (Is is a "known problem"?)

3) When is the next patch coming out?

Thanks,

Travis

Excellent!

Hey travis,

I was having the same problem and was about ready to write tech support about that one. I thought that using the new drum grid pane would make a difference and it does it there also.

I , as you mentioned above like doing my edits while listening in realtime..say with a certain section set for a loop playback..

Maybe some more things to add to the list...i tried to edit velocites on multiple notes in the drum grid as per instructions in the help menu and only the note that i dragged on reflected the change in velocity..I selected the notes by clicking the select tool..then clicking on the notes that I wanted to edit..anybody have success with this feature thusfar...?? and I doing something wrong?...

Another question for all...I am going to try and use the Event view again..gave up on this a long time ago...my problem has always been, when trying to select events utilizing the event filter..after making my selection ..i never saw where the notes were showing that they had been selected...make sense? am i suppose to go to another view ..say the piano roll and see the notes highlited or something?...

So far though..I am really pleased with Sonar 2..even the subtle changes I really liked..I was finally able to get the audio file bit depth to work at 24, whereas i had all kinds of problems with this in Cake and Sonar 1 thru 1.3.1..even with the updated audio drivers from Motu and Midiman..

I would like to see a 88.2 sampling rate in Sonar? Can we have that one please guys? I know you guys read these boards!:)

So I will also say, keep up the good work because Sonar is the best Midi sequencing and multitracking software on the planet!!

I got an answer from the usenet on this one (thanks, Jeff!) Here's the solution:

Right click on a blank area within the Track View (not the Piano
Roll view) and select "View Options". The resulting checkboxes
let you specify whether to have left and/or right clicking change
the Now Time.

No joy!

That didnt work for me. I,m gonna contact TS on this one and some issues with the drum grid. Thanks for the help.

Hmmm... strange.

It looks like the left-click works (doesn't change the Now Time), but the right click *always* changes the Now Time, even when it is disabled in the track view.

I emailed cakewalk support and hope to hear from them about this issue soon...

Glad to see I wasnt the only one having this problem. Glad you made the contact with TS also. It will make our problem legitimate.

Keep us posted and so will I .

Cakewalk has acknowledged the problem and will be addressing it soon. Thanks for the prompt response guys!

awesome! let's cross our fingers that it's fixed in the next patch (whenever that may be)...

good job, to whoever was able to get an direct response from cakewalk about this! :)
