sonar 2.0 problems

Hi there. I really hope that somebody can help me out with a couple of problems I am facing with Sonar 2.0. First of all, about 7 out of 10 times I either play-back or press record, I get a harsh hissing-buzz static noise that just about makes me want to smash my damn computer. It is unbereably annoying and it dominates over any sound I'm hearing. As I said, it only comes on approx. 7 out of 10 times. The second of the two problems is that I no longer hear the metronome. I've screwed around with the projects/metronome settings in hopes of solving the situation, but no dice. I haven't the slightest clue how this crap came about. I'd appreciate any help at all that may lead me to having my Sonar return to normal.

Have you recorded sucessfully before?
What's your soundcard?
Have you changed any drivers or added any programs?
Are all programs in the background shut off?

u can just back up all your project files, and reinstall...
