And this is a surprise to you?? If you could do that, why would anyone actually buy the program. It's a demo - get it?
 
Sorry, that was probably harsher than it needed to be.

It just seems to me that your complaint is misdirected. Sonar allows you to try the product before buying - which is a lot more than most companies do. (Like where's my trial version for Windows XP or Office XP for ex.).

In the trial version you can see and work with the interface, record and playback, apply effects, create loops and midi tracks, try out Session Drummer, and a zillion other things. This should be plenty sufficient to determine whether you like the program or not.

You are just not able to do anything involving a save or an export - since if you could do that you wouldn't need to buy the program.
 
Actually I was just being sarcastic as the :p icon implies. No offense taken. I plan on downloading the demo the next time I leave my computer on all night. Connect speed is 26 to 28K and typical download is at 1.xx kb/s.

I've been checking out the demo for the past couple days. I'm a GuitarTrax Pro user right now, and I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade. I'd like to be able to do MIDI, which GT Pro doesn't do. I like GT because it's so much like a "real" multitracker and it's easy to use. SONAR seems a little overwhelming at this point. There are just so many options!!!

How long have other folks taken to come up the SONAR learning curve?
 
Xalian, why don't you upgrade to HS2002? So called "Sonar Lite"?

It allows you to record midi and audio and is a cut down version of Sonar. And you can always upgrade late, Cakewalk have an excellent upgrade policy imho.

I did it that way cos I'm a slow learner and didn't want to get bogged down in all that detail, it can be overwhelming. By the end of the year I rekon on being ready for Sonar 2.0.

If you've allready used a Cakewalk product, then I would say it's rather easy... I used HS8 (or was it 9) upgraded to Pro Audio 8, then 9 and Sonar 1, and I'm now using Sonar 2 XL, and I'm still learning new things! But I kind of like it that way...

In my opinion, cakewalk makes product that is very easy to get going...
