So this has pretty much been happening i guess when I got the computer. But I have always thought it normal.

My computer mkaes a huge amount of noise - I assume mostly fans spinning relentlessly..ha. But it definately makes a loty more noise than other computers.

nevertheless, that is not what i'm so worried about. Usually maybe 2-3 times every minute, there is like this "ringing" noise coming from the computer. It's not like a high pitch ring, it's more like an old school telephone, you know - with the bell that would ring really fast. It's pretty quiet. I was thinking about maybe just recording it for a few seconds and posting it up here, but first i wanted to see if that was nessesary..haha..

any ideas yet? or should i record it? ha.

edit, here is an mp3..ha

Here's a 600kb mp3 of it.

The second half of it you can really hear it better i think....i hope this isn't bad...ha

sounds like the fan plus the hard drive to me. search around here for quiet componenents. there's lots of quiet fans/drives/cpu fan thingies.

Sounds right to me. A harddrive can make that ringing sound, my old-azz PC sounded like that.

I would make sure HD is still tightened down. If it loosened up it could cause some harmonics.

Yup .... either that or you really should answer your phone when people call. :D
