i have the adat studio pack and when i mix down to a cassete and play it in a stereo on the meters on the stereo only one bar will move up and down so i know im mixing wrong please help.

What, you don't get a reply in 20 minutes so you double post - TWICE. Shame on you.
To answer your question below, you probably need to describe how you have everything set up - kind of hard to troubleshoot based on the one sentence below. Chances are you have something wired incorrectly.
To answer your other question, yes there are other sound cards besides the ADAT edit card that can be used to dump you tracks to a PC. And yes, you can use other software to edit/mix them. I'm not familiar with the card you mentioned, but RME has some that will work.
