Hello everyone, new to the forums here and its looks like a good place to learn alot about home recording.
I'm looking to improve the sound of my dry guitar recordings and I really dont know what to get... At first I was thinking about getting a new audio interface, I have the toneport ux1 and though I thought it was good when I was getting into homerecording I now think that it sounds a bit muddy and that it colors the sound... I also want phantom power which it doesnt have so there goes.. 4 simultaneous inputs would be cool but I can do with two also...
Anyways, what do you guys think I will benefit most from:
changing the interface to something like a presonus firebox -> improve rate to 96khz, somewhat better preamps I guess, more inputs
or
sticking with the interface and buying a better preamp(presonus bluetube, presonus channel) -> much better preamp but at 48khz and same old AD converters
Or will changing this stuff really not matter at all? I would really appreciate opinions from some of you that are maybe a bit past the beginner stage and familiar with how the ux1 fares against competition... Not really looking for the perfect zen in recording but I want to make my money count... Im recording DI, not really into miking amps but I am looking for a good guitar sound..
Thanks for the help...
