I'm new to this whole home recording thing, and I'm in a jam. I've just aquired a Roland 1824 with built in cd-r, I'm using a CAD Equitek E-100 condenser mic to record vocals. Can anyone tell me what sort of effects to use, or how to make the vocals sound good. For some reason they sound flat and dull, even though they were sung with emotion to begin with. Not only that, but I don't know if they need to be compressed or how to do it, but some parts are much louder than others depending on how they were sung. Please help me!!!
 
If your raw vocals aren't 85% of the way there then effects won't really help much. Some bass cut, compression and a touch of reverb is the usual treatment.
 
I was just searching information on E200 and some threads I read mentioned E100 as not being a good mic for vocals because of slow response. Againg It's something I read on this forum... so add salt to taste :)
