Some PA9 Probs

Hello

I got some probs & questions:

1. After running for a while, CW keeps dropping out! And after only 5 seconds of playback, of tracks that are NOT complex. I understand that CW uses lots of RAM, is there no way to clear some of this? I am using 64 meg. Also, does CW us a temp directory to write stuff to? Most times, the "disk usage" bar jumps to 100% just before dropout. I've got about 1.4 gig free.

2. I want to use DIFFERENT drum soundfonts in the same song, but it seems that the only channel I can program drums on is track 10. Have I missed something? It doesn't make sense to limit a sound font to ONE channel? When I try to allocate my drum instruments to a different track, it seems to work, but come playback it plays it as another generic instrument (piano, accordion, whatever, etc.)

thanks!

Re point 1, what about the rest of the computer's relevant specs (hard drive speed in rpm, type of hard drive controller, CPU, front-side bus speed...)? 64 MB is barely adequate for CPA9.

Re point 2, which channel is used is up to the Sound Font author. Most tend to put drum kits together to use the GM standard channel 10 and not have separate drums listed as separate instruments in a bank. Even those that don't typically set up the kit as separate pitches of a single patch rather than a spearate patch for each part of the kit.

To use different drum Sound Fonts in the same song, you have a couple of workarounds. You can edit a Sound Fonts in Vienna Studio to use some any channel like a standard instrument font. Or, you could make your own kit that combines the different drums you like from the multiple ones you now have. Or you can record the MIDI parts to audio in two or more passes depending on how many drum Sound Fonts you're using.
