Hello again, haven't posted in a little while. But I do have some questions.

Until I get an external mixer, I was wondering a couple of things. Once I record something with my Fostex MR-8, I insert the CF Card into my Compact Flash Card Reader into my OS X iMac. That's just to give you some background. Now, how do I make the file that comes up on my Desktop known as (Whatever the song title is).adl and put that into my free version of Pro Tools when Pro Tools needs to be running in OS 9?? If I boot in OS 9, what do I do to make that file open up in Pro Tools so I can edit it?? And also, does anyone know of any instructions on Pro Tools Free Version, because the one it came with, didn't do me justice.

Thanks for taking the time,
Chris

I would check out the Fostex website and see if they have a utility to convert the file to .wav or .aiff. Those are the only formats you will be able to use in PT or most any software.

The file that you use with the MR-8 called wavmanager to transfer tracks to the pc does not work with a Mac.

Yes it does, I have it downloaded, but the thing is I don't get how to use it. If someone could explain it to me, pretty detailed, then I would be most grateful, becasue then I could finally boot up my computer in OS 9, and Open a Session with Pro Tools Free.

Glad to hear they changed it to work with a Mac. This is the way it works with a non-Mac system. (I am not at the pc that has wavmanager on it so this is coming from memory)

1. Hook MR-8 to pc via USB
2. Put MR-8 in USB mode
3. In windows XP the pc recognizes it and a window comes up asking what you want to do with the new connection. I click on "do nothing". This step among others could be different on a Mac.
4. Open wavmanager from wherever you have it.
5. On the wavmanager there will be tabs saying "MR-8 to PC" and "PC to MR-8". To transfer tracks from MR-8 to pc there are check boxes beside tracks 1-8. There is also a drop down box with song titles. Make sure these are where you need them to be and specify where you want the tracks transferred to (I go to "my documents"). Click the transfer (might be download) button. After transferring everything exit out of USB mode on the MR-8.

Maybe this helped??
