ummm I was just wondering, Im not a "studio expert" im just 12 and I own an mr-8. my birthday is comin real soon and I want to get some new stuff for my "studio". So, if you guys could tell me as much info about getting a new mixer, nice condenser mics, and any other stuff I need to make a full functioning studio, it would be GREAT, THanks so much.

well heyman,
It depends upon how much cashola ya got! Personally, I've gotten pretty good results from some relatively inexpensive gear. Some opinions will differ regarding which brand name to buy, but I like Behringer mixers with invisible mic preamps...pretty quiet. The more you spend on a good condenser mic, the better it will perform. Just make sure the mixer you buy has phantom power for the mic. Are you using a computer with the MR8? A lot of fx can be added with the computer, so there is another caveat. Lots of neat stuff available software wise. Good luck and happy birthday!

Thanks

Thanks for the info! but I was just wonderin, is there any way I can hook up a bigger mixer to the mr-8 and use that as the mixer for it instead of the built in one, kinda like just using the hard drive in the mr-8?

Absolutely, I use a mixer as I mentioned above. It's a small Behringer mixer (UB1002) but it gives me a lot more flexibility. For what I do it serves my needs quite well. Best of all I only gave $80 for it brand new at GC.
