Some mixing questions...

Does anyone know of a way to slow down a .wav in CEP? I see time/pitch, stretch options, but nothing that uniformly slows down the tempo. I'd be surprised if it didn't existed... I tried slowing my drums tracks on my 4-track, but as we all know that brings down the pitch of the drums and makes them sound kinda retarded...

Also, what is the best option to use for smoothing a section that has been spliced?

Any suggestions on the best reverb to use for drums recorded in a basement w/ a concrete floor? I'm starting to like Plate Reverb, but I'd like to get feedback from other people.

Well, I think that's about it for right now... Recording has become such a joy! Thanks people...
 
Works for me...

Are you in Cool Edit Pro... or 2000? I'm using "Pro" and have slowed the tempo while retaining the pitch, in the sameplace you've been.

When youare in the "Stretch" panel, do you see the options in the lower left [ie- Time Stretch (preserves pitch)...]?

Yes! But for instruments and vocals - PLEASE share your most successful setting so I can print it and use it always!

I always hear "too much" or "not enough" This is subjective but throw me a bone.

Figuring Pitch Shift

OK, here is a quick guide --
-- 7 notes on the cleff
-- 1/7 = 0.142857...

So, roughly speaking to change the pitch upward from an *F* to an *A*, you would use ---
1 - 0.142857 = 0.857143 (or 85.7143%)
NOTE: You are going *faster in frequency or time, so your final will be smaller then *1*.

If you wanted to go from an *A* down to an *F*, then you'd use --
1 + 0.142857 = 1.142857 (or 114.2857%)
NOTE: slowling fequency or time makes it longer in each respect, hence the larger than *1* number.

You should be able to figure out a sharp or flat from this...
