Just want to know what I need to do to start out. I am getting Cubasis and I have a laptop. I heard I need a preamp and I can run a mike through that. Is this correct? IS having a laptop a big problem??

Thanks heaps

Dude I have no idea if it will work, but I'd say your best bet is to check out the Cubase (If that's what it is) , Computer and Newbie sections of this site.
You can find them by scrolling down this page and opening the "Forum Jump" pull down menu. There's tons of useful info all over this site and really helpful people as well.

Good luck :)

Why don't you simply post this question in the "Cubase Forum".

Because somebody BOMBED the "Cubase Forum"

You'll need a preamp, then a soundcard with an ADC (analog to digital converter) to change the signal and put it on your computer.

Or you can go for an all in one solution (pretty much the same thing as above in the same box).

Oh, but you'll have to check with compatibility with your laptop.. Sorry, I didn't think about that.

If I could, I'd get a laptop with a USB Audio interface, like Edirol makes.

Like this one

I have a computer with delta 1010, and a full mixing/monitoring setup. But for portability, I would love to have a Laptop running Sonar, and a USB interface like the Edirol.

Mmmm, how about because it's not a cubase question?

This is a question for 'computer recording and soundcards'.

Maestro and Chris already nailed ther answer though.
