Hi,
My band and me are planning to start with recording a demo this weekend.
Our style is somewhere between Punk, indie rock and there's a little metal in there too.
This is the equipment we have:
Hardware:
Laptop with EMU 1616M
External harddisk
Behringer ADA 8000
Software:
Sonar 4 for recording, Samplitude 8.2 for mixing
Mics:
Sennheiser e602
Beyerdynamic m69
Sennheiser e835
Sennheiser e845
Beyerdynamic TG-X58
JBL M70S
Studio Projects C4 (pair)
Chinese LDC from Music Store Cologne (similar to a Studio Projects C1)
The plan is to record the drums along with scratch tracks for guitar and bass, and track the rest later on, one instrument at a time.
On to the questions:
E602 for the kick and C4s for overheads are set, but I am unsure whether to use the M69 for the floor tom or the snare. The E845 will do the other part and for the rack toms I plan to use the e835 and the tgx-58. What would you recommend?
Do you think it would be better to sync the ADA8000 to the EMU clock or will the difference be negligible?
Any other comments?
Of course I am well aware that this is still a pretty basic setup, but it should be a step up from our last recording where we only had a Maya44 USB (4channels @16bit 48k) and no mic pres with phantom power.
Thanks for your time
Niko
