I recorded a quick pass at this great old Jerome Kern/Oscar Hammerstein tune today. I think I'll do it over, but it's passable (especially in the context of a party where no one's really listening anyway...)

Last time I did a couple of these, Chris Harris suggested I cut a bit around 150-500 Hz. A hard drive disaster destroyed my masters, though, leaving me with only the MP3s. So I tried his suggestion on this new one today, and it does sound a little less woofy to me... Compare it to one of the other two solo pieces there and see if you can hear that too...

There's some nice jazz guitar. I really did'nt hear any woofiness (that can't be spelled right) in the pieces. I think you're hearing things. I would have really loved to hear the masters if the MP3's sound like this.

Is that a ES gibson you're playing? It sounds real sweet.

P.S. Not to many people are Joe Pass. :D But you're not to shabby!

Thanks, Toonsmith...

It's a Cort LCS-1 Larry Coryell signature model archtop, $700 bucks brand new... a great value...

Two comments:

1. There is still quite a bit of low end that your monitors may be missing. I run a sub and there are a couple of spots in there that had a glass of water walking on the table.

2. IMHO it could use some upper midrange. It needs a little sparkle.

The playing was flawless and interesting, the EQ was a little dark.

Ugh, sorry, folks. I changed the location of the server where this stuff lives and yesterday I changed the nameservers I was using for DNS. It takes 24-72 hours for these changes to propagate. It's there now.

But even if you had been able to find the site, turns out I didn't have that particular file and the latest cut of the demo page out there on that new box... they're there now...

Very smooth guitar playing and sound that you got out of it. I really like these files. I think you should have soloed over them though! :) I kept waiting for it in All The Things. Keep swingin'!

Yeah, still gotta do a few more overdubs... thanks for the kind words...
