What are the advantages of using a Solid State Digital Audio Recorder like the Tascam ss-RO5 over just using a computer to record. I have a very good computer with lots of power. I can make great digital recordings by using a good mic preamp connected via a USB port to the computer. But I have the opportunity to acquire a 1 rack size solid state digital audio recorder. Can I get some input please?

would be useful if you were recording a live gig, but not so much if you're in a studio with a computer handy.

(Some people are also computerphobes and are more productive with something that works like a tape deck.)

No, I'm not a computerphobe but I get a little tired of being on the computer all the time since I use one a lot at work. And this is part of the reason why I use reel to reel tape decks for a lot of my recording.
