Solderless XLR?

HI
Anyone come across these Neutrik Solderless xlr's
and if so Do they last?
Just got some of Ebay and there working at the moment but I'm
not sure about taking them on the road.

If you know the 'gotchas' please let me know

I changed most of my stage cables to this type about 2 months ago.
I got them off Ebay they use Neutrik plugs and Van Damme cable. No problems so far.
As long as the end cap is always tight making sure the collet is secure on the cable all should be fine.
 
I can't say that i've ever actually tried solder-less 1/4" or XLR cables, but I really just don't have a good feeling that I could trust them. Sure soldering is a bit of extra work, but for me that extra work translates into peace of mind that there's actually something hard and solid connecting the wires to the pins and that there's a lower chance that it could be pulled loose.

Just my personal opinion...

That makes me feel better ( I suppose if you did have a problem its easier to rectify with no solder!)

Guys,

I first saw them 2 years ago, bought two bulk packs of 100 male,
and 100 female, as I was then rebuilding my home studio, and also
doing a lot of Theatre work with my gear.

So far,the only failures I have had over the 2 years were 2 XLR cables
which were shop bought (poor solder joints), and one Neutrik Female
XLR, which accidentally got in the way of a 3/4 tonne Proscenium arch
being moved - the connections were OK, but the casing meant you
couldn't use it.

The best thing about themis, you can make up cables quickly without
a soldering iron, and they work first time.

How much can you get 20-30 of them for($US)? Has anybody used the colored sleves?

I've used George L cables as solderless 1/4's < http://www.georgels.com/ > but I didn't know there was such a thing as the xlr's. I actually notice a positive sonic difference between george L's and high end/soldered 1/4's'. I use them now whenever I record direct. Just have a screwdriver and cutter on hand for a quick repair if needed.

Unfortunately, George L does not do xlr's - Are there brand names on these solderless xlr's? Can you get them anywhere else or just ebay?
