soldering ground to brige

i have a strat hardtail bridge, and im trying to solder the ground to it, but it wont stick. do i need flux? i roughed up the area with some sandpaper but didnt help.

You might try some rosin core solder-it has flux in the core of the solder itself-if you can find it. There is a move towards eliminating the lead in solder and that may be part of the problem with soldering the bridge-solder is usually tin and lead and the tin won't bond as easily as the tin/lead combination.
So try flux, but don't go overboard with it.....
 
I think I didn't bother to solder mine, I just tightened the bridge over it
 
yes, after looking into it more, thats what i did. i just put it on top of it.

You don't need to solder it, just let the screw pressure make the contact.
