what does anyone recommend as the best mixing software for home recording. I've been using cool edit pro for quite some time and I think it's pretty good. But I haven't tried Cakewalk, acid, or soundforge software.

I'm using Cubase SX1 converted from Cakewalk Sonar XL2
Just runs a lot smoother for me, handles more, I just mesh better with it. Seemed more complicated at the initial switch, but it's smoothing out pretty well and feel I've changed for the better.

That's what I use, but it's not what I recommend- you gotta test drive it yourself I think. Essentially they do the same thing for the most part- it's just which one connects best with you.
