Hello. I currently have an electric guitar, boss gt3 effects pedal, pc, and cool edit pro 2.0 from a friend. I am basically looking to find some software that allows me to create loops involving drums and synths, then overlay my guitar onto them. I have looked at acid pro 2 and reason 2.5 but don't know if they'd be any good for what i'm looking to do. Does anyone have any ideas?
I also have hammerhead, which i believe is a drum machine program.

I would suggest FL Studio...I have the Producer edition (runs about $150) and it has a simple user interface and a lot of softsynths that you can enter into a sequencer by your computer keyboard or a USB keyboard.

Download the demo and see what you think: www.flstudio.com

I don't know if Reason would be a good choice for you. You could use it to do what you want, but it's designed to be like a synth rack. I think it's more oriented towards synthesis and sampling than simply creating loops.

Take a look at Ableton Live HERE this might be exactly what you're looking for.

You could also use something like Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro or Home Studio 2. Take a look HERE.

Hope that helps!

Ted
