Is there any software that will allow one to send original tracks to another online studio while the tracks are still in an unmixed form? Also, my e mail will only allow me to send 24 kbps mp3 "low fi" instead of 128 kbps. What do I need to do to improve to the 128 send?

I don't know what email program you use, but you should be able to send in whatever quality you like.

It's possible your ISP has a space limitation on your email account, and won't allow emails larger than 1MB.

There are also many sites online that offer free storage space. www.freedrive.com www.idrive.com Their service and stability is less than great though. You could upload your individual tracks to your idrive account, and then they could be downloaded by the other on-line studio.

Usually only 50MB's free space though. Using 128kbps MP3's you might be able to fit one song of indiviual tracks. Using native wav format, one track :)

If both parties have some kind of high speed connection, it's not so bad.

I've been doing this recently with someone across the ocean. They upload a 256kbps mp3 track of piano to my FTP site, and then I download it, convert it to wav and import it to the multitracker.

Dear Emeric;
thanks for answering my question concerning the uploading, etc. You are right about my e mail size. 1mb is as large as I can send. I use hotmail.com. I have an MD8 Yamaha multitrack and I co-write with someone who has a multitrack also. I thought it would be nice to just e mail her my background tracks and let her do the lyrics and send it back. There is a site called TONOS that allows you to enter vocals, instruments, etc. to their 8 track on line. You can buy it for $30 or so, but it sounds like it is a forum type thing. Are you familiar with it? I thought it might do the trick if I could use it one on one with my co-writer. Nothing against forums, I am on one! I am sure you know what I mean.

Again, thanks for the good info you shared with me. I will research some e mail sites ASAP.
Thanks, David W.

when I want to send a larg file reasonably fast I send it through ICQ. It works for me.
