If I mix using software (ie. cakewalk, not using any external mixers) is there any benefit to buying a soundcard with multiple outs?

Mr Lip, for me the benefit is convenience. I can
hear things easier and make temporary mixes with
eight outputs. I can also experiment with various
eqs and outboard reverb settings. Its much easier
to use faders than a Mouse.
For final mixdown and mastering of course a will
just use two outputs, but eight are great for
expirementing. David
