Tape Wolf
Hi,
The scenario is rather complex, so I will describe it first.
I'm running Sonar 1.3, and two softsynths, Lounge Lizard 1(must upgrade) and PPG 2.v.
The piano runs as a DXI, the Wave has to be run though DXIser, since Sonar doesn't support VST.
The sequence also employs three other devices, a Waldorf Pulse, and two Roland ROMplers. Finally, everything is being multitracked to tape, with Sonar running as a slave via SMPTE.
Sonar 1 has several methods of syncing, usually using the soundcard as the clock.
But it seems that when the system is slaved to tape, the softsynths will fall out of tune with respect to the Rolands. This does NOT happen when the sequence is played live and synced to the soundcard.
Does anyone have any ideas? It's most noticeable on the PPG synth.
The softsynths are being output via an SB16, which seems to offer better performance than the SB Live. I also have an M-audio Transit.. I'll try using that next, in case it is some strange kind of buffering problem.
Cheers,
