Hey!

I need to know your opinions of softhsynths vs hardware.

I personally think that when you use a "virtual studio" you dont get a feeling of a "real studio" with hardware. And you dont get any knobs to tweak. And its pretty boring to sit in front of the computer and use "virtal synths" even if hardware controllers will come. Its not the same thing.

And if someone asks what you use in the studio you say: "a computer with reason" that problably everyone will use. Instead of saying: "supernova, virus, nord". You get a own sound with hardware instead of using the softhsynths everyone will use. The studios will be boring when everyone run virtual.

And running live with only a computer seems boring. You want to touch the instruments instead of standing with the mouse and clicking around on the screen. You also want contact with the crowd instead of looking at the screen. You look like a computer nerd on the stage when performing live. You want to use real mixer, sampler and synths live. Then its more fun performing.

People will always be wanting "hardware". They want contact with the instruments they play with and control over their sounds.

It willl not be much about music and feeling when you only run a computer. There must be somekind of human feel that you get with hardware, instead that the computer does it all for you. Its much more fun to play a hardware synth than a "virtual synth".

I dont care if people say that running softhware programs is much more flexible and you get more sounds.

Hardware will always stay i hope!

Whats your opinions about this. Do you think every studio will use a computer only? What do you use right now and what are ur plans for future, going hard or softh?
Do you think softh will replace hardware and take over the market?

Regards

I doubt softsynths will take over the market. Kinda hard lugging a computer system around to gigs.

"The studios will be boring when everyone run virtual."

I think it's gotten boring since everyone started playing strats and hammonds and those drums-thingies... it all sounds the same. :D

For me, the computer IS an instrument. With the computer, I am able to record at home and make decent sounding recordings without spending a fortune. I use a lot of loops and samples, and I also play my own instruments and record vocals. Without the computer, I wouldn't be recording at all.

It's all how you use it.

Now, when I go on tour this summer, I'm going to take a cd I burned, and play that while I stand in front of the audience, randomly exposing myself as the mood strikes me. Now THAT'S a SHOW!!! ;)
