So much in common. Thanks for any contstructive critisism on the sound.

I recorded this with a Tacoma Roadking Acoustic and the drum loop is from betamonkey loops. Any suggestions on equipment changes or on improving the sound of the recording would be appreciated. Below is the link to the MP3 and the equipment I used.

So Much in Common

Vocals - MXL 2003 > Mackie 1202VLZ > Lynxone Card > Reaper.

Rhythm guitar - MXL 603S > Mackie 1202VLZ >Lynxone Card

Lead guitar - MXL 2003 > Mackie 1202VLZ >Lynxone Card

The room is a living room and is not treated.

Any suggestions for improvement in the sound would be appreciated.

Everything is a little bright in the upper mids, probably a function of how you're hearing it through whatever you're using to monitor... Plus, it probably seems top-heavy because there's no bass guitar. That tends to even the waters a bit, and you can't go wrong boosting the bottom end on the drum loop a bit to compensate for that as well.

As for the room, if you have a way to drape some blankets and stuff around your recording area, you can still get a nice, fluid, damped sound. Just that might take some of the edge off.

Keep slugging, good stuff!!

Thanks I just ordered a bass yesterday. I'll also try your other ideas with the room.

Thanks.
