My guess it's an EQ pre programmed to roll off the high end and boost 800hz by like 20dbs. Do you want to Paypal me my winnings?

I actually meant lacking in the sense of what's wrong with the sound of the tune, as opposed to something missing. Good effort though, I have actually been thinking about a new guitar, maybe an SG

No, my new toy is actually one of those Line 6 Toneport usb interface/cab & amp emulator thingies. I got it to use on my laptop when I go away, means I can take a guitar along too and do a bit of recording if the mood strikes. I'm really impressed with the drivers, there's no detectable latency at all.

I guess the fact that no-one picked the guitar sounds as being all DI & software means it sounds reasonably genuine. But if anyone uses one of these or similar and has any mixing tips, be great to hear them
