This is the 3rd. version of this song I've recorded. The past few years I've mainly been doing instrumentals because I've grown So weary View attachment So cold ..mp3 of hearing my own voice . Any feedback is welcomed. I feel like it's lacking "something". Thanks MS

sounds great to me, maybe just a hair bassy, but none of it is over...except bring the voice forward a bit
Nicely done overall....

There isn't lacking much. It's a seriously groovy arrangement and a promising song. Don't give up on writing vocal songs just because your voice isn't up to par. I've got the same problem. Find singers for an online collaboration. If you can write the songs, you can find people to sing them.

Mix is a little bassy. Low pass your tracks to clean things up. Vocal is up, where it should be. There's a fair amount of stuff rattling around on top but it's part of the charm of the mix. I like that you keep your midrange clean and open.

Looking forward to the remix.

Yea, even on HPs a little bassy, but other than that very nie little tune/mix. I thought the vocals were very good. Lots of character. I enjoyed them anyway (that might not be a positive endorsement ;) ).

I don't listen as close as some of these other guys, but I didn't hear any rattling. Good stuff!

Nice song, I like it, I love, love, love funky beats. This looks like an 80s song ahah.

Thanks to everyone who has listened or replied. I really expected some harsher comments .. It's obvious everyone agrees on the EQ . I've gone back to my main project and am fixing bass issues on the tracks. I also pulled a lot of mud out of everything. I pulled 8 bars out of the second lead break , the song is a little long , it seems to flow better now. I'm going to wait for a few more suggestions before I finish the mix and post it again. Hope every one has a great Christmas .. Thanks ... Mark

I'm with everyone else on really liking this song - the feel and beat, and your voice.

The bass didn't bother me, but the overlap of the bottom in the song and the very lowest part of your vocal needed some clarity. But, I've got our son sleeping in the music room and daughter in my office so relegated to an old set of cans for listening right now...

I'd probably compress that intro to about half its length - you're doing fine setting things up, but I'm ready for that vocal to start sooner. I think you could do this with some edits.

Now, I like the 2nd guitar lead, though I'd probably quibble a bit on that choice of distortion/fuzz and the breakup speed - personal taste.

What I'm a little unsure about is the feel when it comes out of that lead - I kind of expected something bigger. Maybe bring that vocal up a 3rd or something. Can't say what exactly as I'm not in a place to even try something, like I said. But, then (recovering some time you gave up in the solo and maybe intro), I'd love to hear a reprise of the first part of the song before it ends, which just seems to happen a little soon. (Maybe a shorter 2nd lead would change my expectations, though.)

But, with all that, it's just a personal thing. I only wish I could do something like that...

I immediately noticed the clarity and open space of everything. I think its sounds pretty good. The bass is a little muddy and the notes somewhat indistinguishable, but its enough to sit in the pocket pretty well. Guitars sound great and vocals sound really good.

Like the vibe. The rim shot and drums need a little ambience to me. Also the kick drum needs to be brought up in the mix. Vocals sounds great. The bass needs more presence - it is a little lost. EQ and maybe some maxxbass or RBass?

Great production!

Keep or sweep, but keep it up!

The song has a great groove to it. Reminds me of Jack Johnson.

I like the reverb on things.

Great clarity on things.

Guitars seem DI'd. They sounded OK, but I'd like something just a bit more natural sounding.

The bass might be just a bit rumbly for a mix like this.

Drums sounded pretty good to me.
