I've been real busy animating the next music video (my other passion) but it can't be all work and no play, so Phil Howland and I came up with this demo on saturday. He's drums and vocals and I'm guitar and bass. Its a rough throw together, kind of wet paint, so any coments welcome.

Very good work Scott. As usual, no critique, it sounds pretty damn good so far to me.

man, that mix sounds perfect. nice work. maybe add some back ground vocals?

Excellent....really like your voice and the guitars rock.Is the apple still on drums?;)

Scott, very cool. My son (15) walked in while I was listening, said, "That sounds like the Beatles playing with Hendrix."
Pretty high praise, I'd say...great job.

Great sound,I loved the chord changes.
That's a really cool guitar sound you have going there!

The only thing I hear is the vocal sound dosn't fit quite right with the guitar sound.
Guitars are to far back or the vocals to far foward.
Mabey it's the doubling on the vox?
I'm listening again,definatly the guitar.
JMHO!:D

I really enjoyed the song, great writing.
Do you make you own music video's?

Good stuff!

Best to you,
Pete

Great tune, I would not double up the vocal, sounds a bit "home recordingish".

Other than that, one of the best tunes I've heard here...

great rockin tune-love the guitar sound-distorted but you can still hear the individual strings. Good bass sound too-I like the way it takes off on harmony notes during the chorus-nice...As far as mix-sounds great-but; I couldnt hear the bass drum too well-the floor tom had a wierd sound to it-and the doubled vocals-but thats just me...Sounds better than anything I've done...Nice work-looking forward to your next.......

Track Rat:
My number one home recording fan. Glad you liked it.

erichenryus:
I probly might get some vocals in the chorus. Im starting to think. But it was an atempt to have a chorus without vocals.

Kramer:
Thanks mate, the Apple is still definatelly on drums. And going hard.

mkg:
Man, I wish my kids were into the Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. I shure am.

muzeman:
Yes I make my own music video's. My studio (ex garage) is an animation and recording studio. If you want to see some of it go here:-

chrisharris:
Rock! Rock! Rock! Rock! Thats what makes my blood flow. Without it, I'm lost.

lynx:
Im not sure if I understand you link between vocal doubling and "home recordingish" since nearly all vocals out there are doubled. I'll asume that you mean it just sounds kinda home recordingish the way I doubled them. Could also be the slight amount of chorus on the voice too.

Stratomaster:
Yep. Its a strat. Into big loud marshall stack. recorded very loud. Love it. The bass sound is an Ibanez something, not sure of the model, its black and sounds good, into a joemeek british channel with shitloads of compression.

Kramer:
Thanks for the plug.

You guy's all rock.

i like it scott!

That guitar is perfect for the style you're playing. And it does sound very professional, but i spose you are at least "semi-professional" right??

I just watched the roses and the wine video!!!!
O Man - THAT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Your guitar skills are excellent -even though that doesnt mean much coming from a newbie
Loved it

Scott - Yes, I referring the to the chorus level there, it's hard to get a good chorus punch at least with what I use to record vocals.

My final mix version. Or at least for now. Has much better layered guitar and drums. Seems to flow better now too. Thanks for your coments.

Great tune and performances. My only real criticism would be that the snare is a little dull and the guitars a little too 'direct' sounding.

TexRoadkill: Its funny, Phil just came in tonight to hear the mix and said exactly the same thing about the snare. He liked the low body to it but where puting a little top end snap back on it.

Hey Fed, you will definately be seeing more video's. probly about 3 months away though.

Gotta finish this mix of though. Saturday's another song?

Scott Tansley

Scott, yeah I've got a suggestion for this one - don't change it. The sound is lovely. It moves with swaggery style.

You wanna put a tad less verb on the vocal? Okay, that's fine, but it won't sound better, it'll just sound different. :D

Great playing and singing for a really good song. You must be proud of this one.

Dude! That is a great tune! I've heard finished CD's that didn't sound as good as this. Super job!

And the videos are awesome!

I know this is a recording BBS, but what program do you use for the animation? I have a good friend who is getting pretty good with 3D studiomax, but isn't sure if he should stick with it or use something else like maya. I sent him a link to your site.

Keep up the great work!

Motorbreath:- Yes the software I use to animate with is exactly that. 3DStudio Max. Maya is good also, but a lot more time consuming to use. If your a one man show then Max is better. It has everything. And for post production I load up the rendered layers and composite them in Combustion. Which is sold by the same company - "Discreet".
In fact Discreet have used my video on there showreel.

Hey Dobro, thanks, thats my first mix with my newly accuired cooledit pro ver.2.
And its made all the difference to be able to use the track eq. Being able to adjust tones in realtime while its playing has made the mixing so much easier and better. And as some of you know, Im a huge joemeek fan and thats contributed a lot to the sound as well.
