Is there any software that can be used to convert audio SMPTE into MIDI SMPTE, so I can sync analog tape with Cubase/Logic ?

Hardware converters are not cheap...

Thanks

you know, if there were more REAL world thinking being done by software makers, if they actually SAW a working studio...I know I rant about this lack of any real knowledge all the time and this is why

this should have been one of the FIRST things done

as it stands, lots of apps can sync to MTC and send it, and hopefully you got a hardware piece that will convert between the two, but I dont know of any translator software...

BUT can the analog devices you are using chase smpte? if so this will be no problem, just run a smpte track in your multitrack app

My Fostex reel recorder is gonna get crazy if will have to chase any click I'll make on the software recorder... I'd much rather prefer it app-chasing-tape...

what model is it?

Your chances of sucess being able to add more stuff in sync later are going to be very sad, if its referenced to the motors of an analog tape recorder...a Jam Sync capable analog transport is going to have a much easier time chasing sync from a PC than the other way around, if it cones to adding tracks at a later date

Fostex M-80 (8 track, 1/4")

Why would it be easier for the motor to chase the PC intead the other way (PC chasing the motor - like I use with the MTC converter) ?

theoretically the computer will do the exat same thing at the same speed everytime, at least within 1/48,000th of a second...the trransport motor on a tape recorder can do no such thing. But either way its not a HUGE deal
