SMPTE with a Sound Blaster Live

I have upgraded my system from the creative pci128 to a soundblaster live. As soon as booted the system up, the first test was using session 8 to sync with Cakewalk. No longer worked. And non of the programs , (cool edit, cubase, sound forge, acid) seem to be able to sync now. They all give the error that the selected device (being my new sblive) is in use by another program.

Can anyone tell me how to get around this? Is it the card, drivers, or io error?

Did you uninstall the old soundcard and its drivers completely? If not, the drivers might be similar enough that old stuff is interfering with new stuff.

I assume you mean SMPTE, and I hope you are trying to sync with Cakewalk and not sink with it...

Old drivers uninstalled

I've even tried hooking all of my equipment on a new board with a full fdisk and fresh install of win98 with no luck. So no...its not driver conflict.
