Anyone know what equipment Smashing Pumpkins use to get such a great distorted guitar? What amp, pedals, and recording techniques? Also how they record acoustic guitar, cause their acoustic studio stuff always sounds superb.

What is double and triple stacking guitar tracks?

Double and triple staching is recording a guitar riff on one track. Then play and record it agin on another track. Continue on that path...then put them together.
