Small Drum Machines

Whats the best, smallest drum machine? I want to buy one so I can use it at work. Also, I want one that has other sounds as well as drums. Any recommendations?

If you have a computer at work, use this pretty cool free drum program. You can coem up with multi-measure beats (pretty much songs!) that loop, you can trigger samples, its pretty cool.

For actual boxes with batteries- the olde skool DR55? The DR 550 and 660 ( and 770) can fit easily in a backpack and run on batteries- maybe a big cargo pocket, but how small are we talking?

The Yamaha QY10 is a full blown midi sequencer (with a few drum sounds) that is the size of a video cassette (I know, I have one)_ although the qy-70 is LOTS better (and only a little bigger). But this is more (and less) than just a drum machine.

even has a MIDI in to sync with a digital tracker (or computer).
 
oh yeah- can't forget the DR 110! which has the "looks like graph paper" interface (my fav, btw).

So I'm thinking if you want new- go for the ZOOM.
If you want to comb e-bay, go for the 55 or the 110 (or 550, 660, 770, which are slightly larger)
 
The 707 is boring, and NOT small.
The 909 is not boring, and even bigger! ;)
 
Check out the Roland/Boss line of drum machines.
 
i have a DR.770 used about 6 times just sitting on my triton right now.. i'll sell it to you....le t me know.. bottom line its the best drum machine out until you jump to a mpc2000/3000/4000, yamaha rs7000, old school sp1200's..

too bad I blew all my loot on a digi-multitracker. Oh wait, you meant you'd sell it to JIGGSAW! My bad! ;)

add the Roland R8(mkII) to that line.
I had a DR670 (same sounds as DR770) and traded it for a mint R8 MKII (these things go for $350-400 on Ebay, if not more) and now I have a real man's drummachine. Ofcourse the "Dry" soundcard helps with even more realistic sounds.

i also have a R8 :)
its stting too.. i use a mpc :D

the 770 has a nice dry kit in it, plus you can edit it with ease.

jiggsaw, pm or email me an offer... i don't use the thing.. i'll sell much less than the new $375
 
Stopped by the music store today- the MTR-3 isn't really all that small- sicne its soo square. we're talking a large pocket on cargo pants. The ZOOM RT-123 has a rectangular shape. Both are pretty much the same size.

And they are only a little bit smaller than a 770,or 660, or 670 , etc.
