Small 1x12 cab

Any suggestions for a small 1x12 cab?

I have a super nice really big 2x12 but it's too loud for my apartment, and too big for me at home. A small 1x12 for recording and practice would be great.

I'm going to be playing a Dr. Z maz 18 through it, so a 25 watt speaker should be plenty. I just want a small size 1x12 to lower the volume and not take up so much space.

The older Dr. Z 112 cabs were nice and compact...I have a matching one for my Route 66. Now they use the bigger, convertible cabs.

I'm sure if you hit eBay you can find all kinds of 112 cabs to pick from, but I don't think that just going to a 112 will make a big change to your volume, even if you drop the load. Why not just get an attenuator?
 
I enjoy the Emery Sound cab. Quality build and uses a great speaker. I do have a couple 1 x 12's ( by various manufacturer's) that I use as single and extensions but do not forget that single 12's or tens for that matter are still going to create lots of SPL. I hope your furniture is bolted down as well as your neighbors home furnishings. Be Well All. WS
 
Cool Thanks. I've checked out the avatar, and just wanted to see if there were any other options. I'll check out Emery Sound Cab too. Thanks for the recommendations.

I'll still use the attenuator to lower the volume, I guess the biggest reason I want a 1x12 is to reduce the size, and have something more portable than the biggest 2x12 I've ever seen (stoneage 2x12 C).
 
Just throwing it out there, but the best guitar sounds I have ever recorded have come through an open back 1x15. It's not much bigger and it provides a viable option for recording bass at a nice and low thumpy volume.

with the Heritage celestion in it, it rocks.

Another thought, like miroslov said, a single cab won't do much to reduce volume, but the footprint is smaller. What about just another self contained amp altogether. I had a small Washburn that sounded great when turned to 11 lol, but just wasn't that loud. Look at the Roland Cubes or similar.
 
Ya but with a simple cab you can switch out amp heads or even run smaller combo amps to the cab for different tones.
 
A 1x8 may reduce the volume a little, but it will still get loud.
 
Yeah but going down to an 8" also limits the frequency response and you lose some low end.
 
Thanks for the tips. I'm still not sure what I'm getting, but now I've got some options.

Another amp would be cool, but I don't think it's something I need right now. I've got a bunch of good ones, and if I can't get the sound I want from them, it probably doesn't exist.
 
Don't forget to keep an eye on Craigslist and local classifieds. I've some some great deals on gear that I didn't even consider for CHEAP. :)
