Sm57 & sm58

A friend of mine informs me that SM 57 & SM58 mic is exactly the same except for the round cover top. He said, removing the round cover top reveals the same top that is inside the head of a SM57, thus in this manner you can use it as is and in theory is really a SM57, is this true??

wow, now that's a revelation! I own a SM58 and was thinking of buying a SM57, but I think I saved some money now and won't need to buy one. I'll save the money for something else I may need. Thanks again Jimmy, you rock dood!
