SM57 mono or something?

I am wondering why my SM57 microphones have only been recording to one side. The wav files are stereo, but there is only sound on the left side. While listening on headphones through the preamp, it is mono, but I don't see why. Is it supposed to be mono? If not, what could be the problem?

You need to be recording to a mono track. Then, it will play back equally in the left and right speakers. Most mics are mono and you should record them that way.
