Hey all, i have a weird problem going on.

I plug my SM57 into the XLR channel A of my DMP3 preamp. Turn the preamp on, adjust the gain levels for channel A, tried both the Hi and Lo gain ranges, and the VU meters aren't moving at all. Just yesterday I plugged my guitar into the direct input and all was well. Anything I'm doing wrong? Does the SM57 have a power knob that I can't see?

That is weird. Have you used that mic before? Are you sure it works at all? Did you try using a different mic cable? (Cables are always the weakest link and the first thing to check.)

If B works and A doesn't (with the same mic and cable), it's possibly a channel problem. If neither works, it's probably a cable, as MadAudio has suggested.

Yea neither A or B work. just got the cable and mic today too. Very strange indeed.

broccoli..

i have the exact same setup and works fine...dmp3 is one hot little thing, literally..i have to use the hi/lo thing for almost everything..the thing is also a lot smaller than i expected lol

anyway..it should be the xlr channel..have u tried the sm57 on another source? if it works then the problem is really the pre.

trade it for a new one in the store u bought it..these things come with 2 year warranty.
