Ok, i got an sm 57 for free because it wasn't working. I unscrewed it and there is a green and yellow wire. It looks like one terminal has a "+" sign, kind of hard to make it out. Anyway, which wire goes to which side. It will be great to get a free mic if that is the only thing that is wrong.

I'm not sure if this will help, but here is the spec sheet for the SM57. There is a wire diagram on page 2. SM57 Specsheet

Good luck! :D

Are the wires actually broken off the solder points?
Yes, so it may be worse than i think. We'll see. Unfortunately i have to go to a funeral, so i wouldn't be able to deal with it right away.

just solder the wires back on and you should be in business. green wire + and yellow wire - (probably unmarked).

Make sure you clean the terminals thoroughly of the old solder using a soldering iron and either solder wick or a solder sucker. Don't heat up the terminals any longer that necessary. Cut off the broken section of the wire and start with a fresh section. The wires will be long enough to cut the 3/16" that is frayed and broken. Strip off a bit of insulation and make sure you have a good mechanical connection before you solder. Be careful when you are soldering those wires not to leave the iron on the terminals very long.

SM 57's are nearly industructable. The mic should work fine after you solder it back together.
